Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 3 tbsp brown sugar, packed
- 2 tbsp granulated white sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup plus 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until the mixture is smooth and no lumps remain.
- Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract. Whisk vigorously for about 30 seconds until the mixture lightens in color and becomes glossy.
- Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Use a silicone spatula to gently fold the ingredients together just until no streaks of flour remain.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal balls (approximately 1.5 tablespoons each) and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes until the edges are set and lightly golden brown, while the centers still appear slightly soft.
- Allow the cookies to rest on the hot baking sheet for 5 minutes for carry-over cooking before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
