Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp granulated white sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until the mixture is smooth and no lumps remain.
  3. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract. Whisk vigorously for about 30 seconds until the mixture lightens in color and becomes glossy.
  4. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Use a silicone spatula to gently fold the ingredients together just until no streaks of flour remain.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Divide the dough into 6 equal balls (approximately 1.5 tablespoons each) and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9–11 minutes until the edges are set and lightly golden brown, while the centers still appear slightly soft.
  8. Allow the cookies to rest on the hot baking sheet for 5 minutes for carry-over cooking before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
