Ingredients:
- 1 lb refrigerated pizza dough
- 6 oz turkey pepperoni
- 1 cup low-moisture part-skim mozzarella cheese, finely shredded
- 1/4 cup thickened marinara sauce
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 12 leaves fresh basil
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a standard 12-cup muffin tin by lightly greasing it or using a dark-coated non-stick tin.
- Lay turkey pepperoni slices between paper towels and press firmly to remove surface moisture and fat. Slice each pepperoni circle in half to create semi-circular petals.
- Roll the pizza dough into a large 12x18 inch rectangle. Using a pizza cutter, slice the dough into 12 long strips, each approximately 1.5 inches wide.
- Apply a very thin, translucent layer of thickened marinara sauce down each dough strip. Sprinkle a line of shredded mozzarella, oregano, and garlic powder down the center of each strip.
- Place the halved pepperoni slices along the top edge of the dough strip, rounded edges hanging slightly over the top, overlapping them like petals.
- Fold the bottom half of the dough strip upward to cover the bottom half of the pepperoni. Roll the strip tightly from one end to the other to form the rose shape.
- Place each rose into the muffin tin. Bake for 15 minutes until the dough is golden brown and the pepperoni edges are crispy. Dust with grated Parmesan and garnish with a fresh basil leaf.
